The friendly and knowledgeable staff are quick to make you feel at home, offering recommendations that showcase the menu’s delightful surprises, which are a refreshing departure from typical Indian fare.
Among the standout dishes are the Baked Baingan Bharta served in a sesame tart, and the Palak Paneer & Ricotta Bhurji, rich in flavor and beautifully plated. Each dish feels hand-crafted, celebrating the chef's expertise and commitment to quality. The Beyond Meat Kofta reflects a thoughtful approach to vegetarian offerings, ensuring that even the non-meat eater is captivated. Beverages at Guru are equally remarkable. The lassi, with its variety of flavors, serves as the perfect counterbalance to the bold spices embedded in the food. I personally recommend the flavored soda for a refreshing twist. And let’s not overlook the dessert selection! End your meal on a sweet note that captures the essence of Indian delicacies.

Our experience was outstanding!! We only did appetizers and drinks for a quick lunch. Warm and prompt service!! The chicken tikkas were really well marinated, juicy and tender, with a nicely balanced spice profile...really well cooked with the fresh mint chutney...just awesome!! Coming back to try their mains soon!!

From the outside, the restaurant looks small. But inside, you are welcomed by nice staff, the bar, and a warm atmosphere. The lady serving us was nice, and she had a few recommendations. The menu itself was easy to read. I like that it had different dishes than typical Indian restaurants. We had the mango chicken, beetroot kebab, and one more dish that I can't remember right now. I was surprised how good the beet root kebab was. I'm definitely coming back here. There's tons of parking across the street.

Guru has set up a gorgeous space downtown Edmonton in the Ice District. The food is East Indian and is a blend of traditional dishes with a touch of modern fusion. Fresh ingredients, top end ingredients and beautiful presentation all make this a top notch experience. The service is very friendly and helpful. And what a great touch to have management visit the table. The space is stunning. Lots of windows let in natural light. Modern hip touches provide a wonderful ambiance. 5 x

An exceptional fine Indian dining experience that impresses with its curated, compact menu—limited in choices but rich in flavour and sophistication. Each dish feels hand-selected, showcasing the chef’s expertise and a clear focus on quality over quantity. The drinks menu is extensive, offering everything from classic cocktails to premium wines and spirits. Their in-house wine rack adds a touch of elegance, and the Sandro De Bruno Pinot Grigio we enjoyed was a perfect, crisp pairing. A unique highlight: the chef’s tableside finishing touch, adding both finesse and theatre to the meal. The ambience and music are simply outstanding—undoubtedly a 10/10 for atmosphere. Our selection: • Peri Peri Chicken Tikka – Dragon Fire: perfectly charred, bold, and tender. • Baked Baingan Bharta in a Sesame Tart: inventive and memorable—a first for me. • Fresh Clay Oven Naan: warm, soft, and flawless. Add cheese chilli from option. Every dish was a 10/10—flavourful, well-balanced, and spiced just right for any palate. A truly elevated and memorable dining experience.

Update: Came here for my birthday and got to try more of the menu. I still cannot get over how incredible the food, drinks and service is. We were a group of 6 and they looked after us so well. Have some new favorites on the menu and will recommend this place to everyone I know. The mango chicken is my absolute favorite. The samosas have such incredible flavors. I just recommend coming back a few times and trying more and more of the menu. This restaurant is an experience, not just dinner, and that's how I describe it to friends and family. Old review: My best friend and I had the absolute best experience here. Guru is locally owned and the food is so phenomenal that we are still raving about it. Our server Kelly was incredible and super knowledgeable. She's so friendly and made the dining experience much more memorable. The manager Gurjeet came to check on us and say hi. The cocktails he made were beyond words. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because this restaurant deserves it.

I was in the mood for some good Indian food and I found this spot really close to my hotel and I came out of time when it was hardly anyone there which is cool because the service was super fast so I ordered this mango drink (I’m sorry I got started before I took the picture.) it was amazing then I went ahead and ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan, let me tell you this was so amazing. This is my only male of the day and I didn’t need anything else. I’m extremely satisfied. I think I might even go there tomorrow for lunch.

Exceptional service! They really care about their customers and proud of their staff and their menu. So accommodating and welcoming... one must partake in this dining experience.

Hubby and I were in the neighborhood and poked our heads in for some drinks. Beautiful decor; romantic and cozy. Husband ordered the "Guru" cocktail, while I had a Moscow Mule. Both drinks were great, but the Guru was spectacular. Alchemy with stunning presentation. The food that was being served to nearby tables also smelled wonderful. We will be back for dinner in the near future.
